The End Of The World.... Part 1


Its 1999 and people are panicking because we are nearing the beginning of a new century. Some religious leaders have foretold the end of the world at the turn of the 21st century. As if that's not enough, Nastradamus, a prophet of sorts also predicted the end of the world once the new century comes... Wait, it doesn't end there. Scientists and computer experts also predict chaos once the clocks hit 00:00, 2000 because computers will shut down and get confused because of the millennium bug.

So human beings do what is normal reaction, a natural reaction. Something that the scientists and atheists believe happens when there is a change. Evolution. But this is not evolution, it is a natural reaction to threats, defence. The religious ones conform to a norm. Basically, those in the religious circles (christians) become more religious by intensifying their belief and deepening their faith. The scientists do the same by being more scientific and more complex and confusing. The period birthed fanatics of some sort.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...Happy New Year!!!!!! Others cling to their rosaries and bibles, deep in prayer expecting the sky to open up and trumpets to blow to signal the coming of their creator to end of the world while a different group brace themselves for some sort of calamity or explosion to end their accidental paradise created by a bang.

00:01 - 2000... The church guy
The prayerful guy looks up from his bible, looks left, looks right, looks up. "Something is wrong" he thinks. Touches himself, pats himself... He is whole. Looks around again... Everyone is still here. Still on earth, no rapture. "What went wrong?" he thinks....

00:01 - 2000... The science guy
The science guy opens one eye, his hands still covering his ears, looks around slowly. Opens the other eye and cautiously scans the distant sky. Uncovers his ears and turns on the radio, tv and computer. Everything comes on, pictures on the tube and celebratory music on the radio. The computer screen comes to life with all his icons intact. He looks at the time and date and he thinks, "There was no explosion, no bright light...what went right?"

Fast forward 12 years and we are faced with the same predicament or prediction. The world is ending in December 2012!!!! Alarms go off in everyones head, religious people and scientists alike. The panic sets in once again and doomsday movies re-enforce fear of the end. Reboot the fear and reboot the same behavior we saw previously.

Is the world ending? I don't think so. In the eyes of the atheist, the big bang was too perfect to let the world implode on itself and in the eyes of a Christian, I doubt God would wanna kill us all just for fun. Check my next post for an insight on this.

My daughter and I

14th october 2013 On this night my daughter and I ate beef sausages with bread and shared one small box of ceres juice, mango flavour. I will not forget this day because this is the day I have gotten tired of being kind, being understanding and being soft. I feel bad because in all my life today I feel the most worthless. Worthless because in the morning my daughter carried plain bread to school. Worthless because due to not having gas I picked up my daughter after 21 hours from her aunt's house. Worthless because with the money I had borrowed we bought a loaf of bread and 2 beef sausages and the ceres juice so that we could eat. Why are we eating such a meager and mediocre meal you may ask?... Its because there is completely no food in the house. Nothing. So. I sit here and ask myself why this is so.
